Esthetics School Experiences For Men

By Lucy Cho

Men usually appreciate their time working in esthetics (or aesthetics) and taking courses at an esthetics school. When they get some desire to work in this industry, however, some men may feel quite uncomfortable. Why is this? For many years it's been a female-dominated industry. However, at present it's become not too unusual to find a man enrolled at an esthetics school or laser institute program. The male experience in esthetics can be a great one. But this may be a surprise to those that still find it to be an industry mainly meant for women to work in.

First, we shall talk a little about why a guy signing up for esthetics school is a more widespread occurrence today. Further, we will look into one esthetician's experience that shows it might perhaps not be perfect being a man in a beauty school. Finally, we will take a look at the responses of some men who've been or will be estheticians and thought that being a guy really was advantageous to them in the market.

It is actually becoming more prevalent for men to take courses at a beauty school. Why would this be? Generally talking, cosmetic solutions have begun to be much more generally accepted for men to receive and to give. Men are becoming more known in both clientele and occupational characteristics in beauty. This broad acceptance of males in a beauty industry that generally only females had previously dominated has allowed more men to become involved and generate work and respect in this business.

Some men have suggested that it's not really great to be a man at an esthetics school, while much support may have been found by other men looking to register at an aesthetic laser institute or other schools. One man stated that he thought there had been many reasons it'd been difficult. Among the problems he mentioned was what he called a battle of the sexes with a number of the female members of his classes. Being only a small minority in nearly every situation can be trying. Therefore men who'd prefer to go this way should make sure that they're ready to potentially feel very isolated sometimes.

Numerous male estheticians or men going to esthetics school have commented on men in the beauty industry. One man has said that he was an esthetician for forty-two years, and he explained that being a man was a bonus to him. Still another man said he was recently graduated from an aesthetics institute and elaborated how it was a bonus for him, also, to be male. He said that he was rather unique in his area as a man in beauty, and that many female clients loved his male perspective. He also stated that being a male helped him get a job offer from an aesthetic surgeon he works for. He also said that he is very happy to see men receiving a far more open welcome in the beauty business.

Men may face some problems due to their gender as they attend a laser institute or an esthetics school, but they could also find some competitive advantages for the exact same reason, as well.
