St Augustine Weddings A Unique Destination Wedding

By Teresa Fields

Instead of holding weddings at your hometown like everyone else, it might be a good idea to consider St Augustine weddings. You can hold your special day at a bed and breakfast in one of the most historic cities in North America. At the same time, you can spend your honeymoon there too.

St Augustine in Florida is not just famous for gorgeous beaches but also for interesting tourist spots where you can find historic sites from way back 1513 when the place was discovered by Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon. It has over 400 years of rich history to show visitors.

It is one of the first cities ever established in the US whose beginnings start at the founding of the town in 1565 by Pedro Menendez. Visitors will see evidence of Henry Flaglers railway business established in the 1800s. The railways of Flagler boosted the development of the town.

The town also plays a big role in African America history as a place where escaped slaves would run to for freedom. The first railway build under the ground carried slaves from the British colonies down to southern Florida where it is now a historical landmark for feed slaves. The place is maintained by the states park services.

Aside from old history and beaches, the town is also famous for shopping and dining. It is an ideal town to host a marriage ceremony, a honeymoon, or romantic getaway. Days can be spent at shopping areas, eating out, and museum hopping. It is the perfect wedding destination and vacation rolled into one.

If you have your wedding ceremony at a bed and breakfast in St. Augustine, you can customize your music. A licensed officiator will make the union official. You and your guests will have your own bedrooms. The newly married couple will get to ride on a horse carriage around the old city districts.
