What Are The Best Tasting Protein Bars

By Leigh Bean

The sale of energy bar has now gone large. Once, these things were common among the kitty bag of bodybuilders but now they are found on airplanes, in the back of the drawer, at gas stations, vending machines and party stores. Such best tasting protein bars are the latest food fashion and in the past decade, sales have shot past the $1 billion mark.

Majority of protein-bites are filled to the brim with nutrients and energy. However, a lot of flavoring agents used in them is undecipherable to the common man. Moreover, they are just as loaded with sugar as they are with proteins and nutrients.

There are many flavored energy bites available in the market but for this article we have selected the top four. They are Thick Thin Creamy Peanut, Met-RX Big 100 bar, Detour Carmel Nut Energy Bar and Clif Builders Cocoa Dipped. All of them are not just loaded with good nutrients but also provide a pleasing taste.

Met-Rx Big 100 is priced at just $3 and should give consumers the taste of cookie dough for chocolate chips. It was observed by many reviewers that this bar did not deliver on its promised flavor, rather mimicking more of the taste of a light graham biscuit. On the bright side, it was loaded with plenty of proteins, some 28 grams to the bar but had plenty of carbs, sugar and very little fiber. Overall, the bar is highly nutritive but had corn starch syrup sugar. Tasters felt that the bar had a rather obtrusive texture and the taste was not too pleasing. Some said it was metallic in its taste while others said that it came nowhere close to a chocolate chip cookie batter.

The Crips Clif Builder Cocoa Dipped Bar costs $2 and is supposed to be the most nutritious of all energy-bars. In fact, reviews said that it had manageable amounts of carbs, fiber and sugar with plenty of proteins. This meant that it tastes good enough without sacrificing on the energy content. What tasters had to say about this bar also proves the fact that it beats all other energy bites hands down. Many said that it was like eating a candy thanks to the crunchy and crackling nature of the treat while a few did complain about the dryness associated with very little peanut butter flavoring. Overall, it fared better than other test bites.

While the ThinkThin Creamy Butter bar was supposed to be gluten and sugar free, it did not do all that well in taste reviews. Yes, it is nutritional and at $2 cheaper than many other bites but its taste is a letdown. Anyone who has tasted it will vouch for its yucky taste although the texture is slightly better.

Before Detour Carmel Butter bar was tasted, the Clif Builder was found to be the best among nutritional values. However, with over 30 grams of proteins served in a single bar and little carbs to go with it, this energy bite ousted Clif Builder as tasty and nutritive. The only negative aspect of it is the fact that it has got too much sodium content.

All those who had tasted the Detour Carmel bar felt like they were having a candy with zero sugar. In fact, it got the onus of the best tasting protein bars. This was because of a crunchy and chewy texture with a superb before and after taste.
